Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: September 6, 2026

In plain English: When you apply for and are approved for a credit card, loan, or other financial product through a link on our site, we may earn a commission from the provider. This never costs you anything extra, and it never affects your approval odds or the rate you receive.

How our affiliate links work

On pages like our Build Credit resource, we recommend credit cards, credit-builder loans, and reporting services we believe are genuinely useful. Some of these links are affiliate links — meaning if you apply through the link and are approved, the issuing bank or service pays us a commission.

What it doesn't change

How we choose what to recommend

We recommend products based on merit — how well they serve people building or rebuilding credit, not on the size of the commission. A product appears on our list because we'd recommend it to our own family, and in some cases the product pays no commission at all.

Why we do it

Commissions help keep our free content and free tools (like our mortgage calculators and score simulator) available at no cost. It's a common, FTC-compliant model used across personal-finance websites.

FTC compliance

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on affiliate marketing. Where an affiliate relationship exists, we disclose it on or near the recommendation itself, in addition to this page.
